I came to DMC Crystal Palace Road surgery about 1.5 years ago as I felt low and depressed and finally decided I needed to get help for it. I was really nervous to discuss this at the surgery. The doctor I first saw about it was extremely kind and understanding and provided me with advice on different options. I started on medication and I was referred to the mental health nurse in the surgery. I met her a couple of times and spoke to her on the phone over the course of around 9 months. She was amazing – she made me feel like a person being listened to and offered support and recommendations after listening to all my concerns, which is something that is rare with stretched and under pressure public services these days. I want to thank her for the advice she gave me, which has changed my perspective on how I view myself, my mental health and has helped me for the better.

I have now finished the medication course and I’m really relieved and happy I went to the surgery about it. The services far exceeded my expectation and what I thought would be possible to provide me with support and treatment.
