Community Partners Gather to Mark Start of Community Dermatology Service in North and North East Lincolnshire Under DMC Healthcare

Community partners, healthcare stakeholders and local organisations gathered on Tuesday 12 May to mark the start of the Community Dermatology Service in North and North East Lincolnshire under DMC Healthcare.
Hosted by DMC Healthcare, the event welcomed representatives from NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB), North East Lincolnshire Council, Healthwatch North East Lincolnshire and local healthcare organisations, alongside The Worshipful the Mayor of the Borough of North East Lincolnshire Councillor Janet Goodwin, Mayor of the Borough of North East Lincolnshire, who attended the official opening of the service.
The event reflected the continued collaboration taking place across the local healthcare community to support accessible dermatology care closer to patients’ homes and strengthen services for local residents across North and North East Lincolnshire.

Speaking during the event, Ravi Gupta, Group Medical Director at DMC Healthcare, reflected on the importance of delivering healthcare services within local communities.
“Patients tell us this is where they want to be. They do not necessarily want to travel into large hospitals and unfamiliar settings. Community services like this create a much more comfortable experience for patients and that is exactly what we want to deliver.”

Chris Saunders, Interim Chief Executive Officer at DMC Healthcare, also highlighted the importance of partnership working and supporting local healthcare services.
“For us, this is about far more than simply delivering a contract. It is about building strong relationships, continuing important care for local patients and supporting the GPs and partners who refer into the service.”

Madam Mayor, also spoke about the value of local access to specialist healthcare services for the community.
“Skin conditions can affect anyone and having a local specialist service means that families and individuals can receive the care they need without having to travel far from home.”

Debbee Jewitt from NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) highlighted the importance of continued partnership working across the local healthcare system.
“What is important about today is not simply a new contract or a new provider. It is about ensuring a continued commitment to delivering high quality, accessible dermatology care for local people.”

The morning also provided an opportunity for partners and stakeholders to meet members of the wider service team, tour the clinic facilities and recognise the collaborative work that has taken place to support the service across the region.
DMC Healthcare, a clinically led healthcare provider working alongside the NHS since 1967, will continue working closely with local partners and the wider healthcare community to support patients across North and North East Lincolnshire.
