News | CQC announce ‘Good’ rating for DMC Radiology Reporting
DMC Healthcare’s radiology business, DMC Radiology Reporting, is proud to have received a ‘Good’ rating by Care Quality Commission (CQC) following the short-notice inspection this summer. DMC Radiology Reporting is a leading UK teleradiology company, established in 2013 and co-founded by senior radiologists, Professor Sujal Desai and Professor Simon Padley, in a joint venture with the DMC Healthcare Group.
DMC Radiology Reporting prides itself on its strong commitment to innovation, efficiency and rigorous clinical governance, making it a trusted and experienced partner to NHS hospital Trusts and independent healthcare providers.
Professor Sujal Desai, Clinical Director and co-founder, commented:
“We are delighted with the CQC assessment of our service which has been graded ‘GOOD’ across the domains of Safe, Effective, Responsive, and Well-Led. From the outset, DMC Radiology Reporting has sought to deliver an exceptional reporting service with its teams of highly-skilled subspeciality trained consultant radiologists. We remain committed to supporting our clients in managing waiting list pressures, addressing workforce shortages, and addressing the unparalleled surge in demand for radiology reporting services.”
The service was praised for its compliance with the provision of mandatory training, safeguarding, suitability of imaging services equipment, quality of reporting, record keeping and staffing. The CQC highlighted a 96% compliance rate for completion of safeguarding training and a 95% compliance to mandatory training.
A particular strength was the way the service worked to best practice and relevant guidelines, working to The Royal College of Radiologists’ standards for the provision of teleradiology, covering data transfer; reporting; communication of the results; and quality assurance.
Professor Simon Padley, Clinical Director and co-founder, added:
“We take pride in the CQC recognition of our strengths in the well-led domain. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated teams for their unwavering commitment to our vision. Our ‘TRUST’ values, which embody Teamwork, Respect, Understanding, Support and Togetherness, have truly stood out. These values form the foundation of how we provide our services, care for patients, and inspire colleagues to make a difference.”
It was noted the service had sufficient staff with the right qualifications, skills, training and experience in undertaking interpretation and reporting. The Level 3 trained safeguarding lead proactively liaises with the relevant trust’s safeguarding leads, creating bespoke approved safeguarding pathways. The service has a clear pathway for urgent findings and its audit process for managing the performance of radiologists was also a key highlight.
CQC also underlined that the leaders ran its service well using reliable information systems and supported staff to develop their skills. Staff felt respected, supported and valued and were clear about their roles and accountabilities.
